Recently we reported that an updated version of the KTM 200 Duke, the Austro-Indian brand’s first motorcycle in the country, was expected soon with multiple new features. Now, the brand has launched it at Rs 2.07 lakh with upgrades that bring it closer to the bigger brother, the 390 Duke.
- Received a bigger front disc and lighter alloy wheels earlier this year
- Gains ride-by-wire, a bi-directional quickshifter and traction control
- Retains the 199.5cc single-cylinder engine making 25hp and 19.3Nm
Updated KTM 200 Duke: What has changed?
Now gets a comprehensive list of rider aids
The 200 Duke has essentially remained the same since the second generation was launched in 2020, receiving minor changes since, by way of a TFT display, an updated left switch cube, a new colour, larger 320mm from disc brake and lighter alloy wheels, the last two straight from the bigger brother, 390 Duke. KTM clearly wasn’t done for the year as it has now given a bunch more features. Its expensive price leaves the 200 Duke competing with 200s as well as 250s from other brands, and these upgrades should help soften that blow.
The new upgrades are traction control, ride-by-wire, two ride modes (Street and Rain), a bi-directional quickshifter and last but not least, an up-to-date switch cube for the right side as well. Besides these changes, the motorcycle retains its second generation styling and other mechanical parts. The latter refers to the 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with 25hp at 10,000rpm and 19.3Nm at 8,000rpm, WP Apex-made 43mm USD fork and monoshock suspension units, tubular trellis frame, tyres and wheels, all of which are retained as-is.
While KTM hasn’t specified when bookings and deliveries will start, we’d expect it to start in the near future, considering the bike has already started reaching dealerships. With all the upgrades, KTM has increased the price by about Rs 1,500 over the existing version, pricing the updated version at Rs 2.07 lakh. There are two new colours on offer, Liquid Carbon and Slate Grey, which replace the Atlantic Blue (launched earlier this year) and Silver Metallic. It’s now the second most-expensive 200cc class motorcycle in India, second only to the Yamaha R2, which starts at Rs 2.30 lakh.
All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
